what we are
What if we celebrate the diversity of gay culture in an all-inclusive, week-long, festival? A celebration designed specifically to bring our community and its allies together with events for the whole spectrum of the LGBTQ+ community? In other words, there is something for everyone.
Our team will hold auditions, contests, and job fairs to insure you can be part of the festivities, if you choose. Local dancers will dance in the shows. Local artists will be able to display their art. Familiar faces will deliver you food. Local singers and variety acts will be featured along with our troupe of talented performers.
You will also vote on what is presented during the week so certain events are customized for your community. Speaking of community, local gay businesses will be first on the list to be contacted and a percentage of the profits will be donated to your LGBTQ+ Center.
There are two reasons why we chose the name “HAPI Festival”:
- Hapi is the name of an Androgynous Egyptian God that maintained balance and harmony. Hapi was responsible for the flooding of the Nile River that produced rich, fertile, soil which brought growth and prosperity to the people of Egypt. Like the Nile River, The HAPI Festival would like to enrich and nurture your community with a fertile environment for growth and prosperity long after we leave town.
- Gay and Happy used to be interchangeable. With a little adjustment in spelling, attitudes, and thinking, it can be again. Let’s make that happen.
